Dysfunction has an uncanny ability to be a great friend and when it is gone, a gaping hole is left, creating a void in the host's life and leaving a spirit of unrest and complete lack of peace.

Dysfunction is a ‘friend’ like the folks described in Ps 5:9 “There is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue.” This is a friend who’ll wear us down two ways. First it gnaws away at motivation and integrity – being the excuse for not accepting responsibility. It twists each of us away from picking up our cross and bearing it. Second it is a source of unending need for sympathy, eating away at our sense of who we are – God’s creations. It becomes the definition, rather than the malady. Get rid of it and we have a wonderful place in which the Holy Spirit can dwell. (Ps 5:11-12 ‘But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O LORD, You surround him with favor as with a shield.’) The unrest and lack of peace are eyes newly opened to your purpose, without excuse for not pursuing it. Ps 4:7 ‘You have put gladness in my heart, More than when their grain and new wine abound.’ But, I suppose you already knew that...
